SEPTEMBER 24, 2019, WORKSHOP DETAILS:

Friends of the Niagara Escarpment Biosphere Reserve,

We are writing with an update on new leadership for the Niagara Escarpment Biosphere Reserve (NEBR), or “NEBR 2.0.”.

On July 30, a group of nearly 40 NEBR partners gathered at the Mono Community Centre in Dufferin County to review a Proposed Transitional Leadership Model for the NEBR. We want to report to those unable to attend on July 30 by sharing the following items:

– July 30 PowerPoint presentation (opens a 30-slide PDF)
– July 30 memo on the Proposed Transitional Leadership Model (opens a 2-page PDF)
– July 30 workshop notes (opens a 6-page PDF)
– Survey to express interest in joining the Transitional Leadership Committee (TLC) or one of the four working groups that we discussed at the July 30 workshop (and which are noted in the PowerPoint)

There was good support on July 30th for a transitional leadership phase that would move the NEBR from its current form (nested within the Niagara Escarpment Commission) to an independent, community-led” NEBR 2.0” over the next year.

If you were unable to join us on July 30 we hope you will review the materials provided in this update, then consider expressing interest in joining the Transitional Leadership Committee or one of the working groups being formed to support the transition. Click here to indicate your interest.

Our next workshop will be held on September 24, where we will present a revised leadership model based on feedback from the July 30 workshop. We will also present the slate of individuals who have expressed interest in joining the Transitional Leadership Committee (TLC). Working groups will also be established at that workshop.
